Team building day with Skipton Building Society

‘Never a dull day’ – four words that are often thrown around the BTE office as we strive to create amazing events for a wide range of clients.

This phrase definitely rang true on a blustery day a few weeks ago in North Yorkshire. We teamed up with our favourite photographer – Richard Wynn Davies, donned our wellies and colour-coded jackets and headed for the stunning Broughton Hall in Skipton ready for a day of team building with Skipton Building Society. In true Yorkshire style we weren’t going to let the weather dampen our spirits!

The morning started at Eden lodge with some presentations organised by Skipton Building Society inside the house, in the meantime the BTE team set to work laying out a treasure hunt made up of carefully placed clues and codes leading four teams across the extensive grounds. We then headed back to the house to lay on a generous buffet in time for the group to break for lunch.

Once everyone was fed and watered the group were split into four teams; blue, red, green and yellow, handed their first clue ‘miming signals’ and the race was on!

The teams were required to decipher codes made up of letters and flag signals, follow maps and solve riddles. The final clue lead the teams back to the house to track down a small hidden safe filled with party poppers and treats. If the groups had followed their treasure hunt clues correctly they would have the combination to unlock the safe and become the winners.

The second activity for the afternoon was focused on communication and creativity. We handed out to each team a bag containing a mixture of stationery, haberdashery, a remote controlled car and other miscellaneous items.

The task set was to build a bridge out of the equipment provided strong enough to support the weight of the car driving over the length of an inflated party balloon. Extra points were of course awarded for ingenuity and style! Once again our ever enthusiastic (not to mention a little competitive) groups got to work…

Once the clock was up teams were asked to showcase their creations and the winners announced. It was fantastic to see every person in the room get involved, all in all a lot of fun was had!

The fun-filled action packed day ended with announcing the overall winning team and a glass of well-deserved fizz for all.
